FDA Government Agency Processing Codes

Many products will need these government agency processing codes as a way to tell the FDA more about what type of product category this item is in. As some of these codes can be determined by the customs broker, it’s crucial for the importer to include a detailed layman’s description of the product and its intended use. With a more detailed item description the customs broker should be able to identify the type of product (i.e., drug, medical device, etc.) and type of sub-product (i.e., drug: prescription, research/development, etc.).

To help you determine if your product description is detailed enough, we have included a list of the government agency processing codes. These must be provided to the FDA.
