Myanmar (the country formerly known as Burma) has been granted the benefits of Least Developed Country Tariff (LDCT) tariff code 08, and the General Preferential Tariff (GPT) tariff code 09.
The entitlement is retroactive to March 13, 2015. For any duties paid on goods accounted for during this time period, a B2 refund claim can be submitted.
The List of Countries and Applicable Tariff Treatments section in the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff has also been updated.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has published Customs Notice CN15-021 announcing the change, and has amended the January 1, 2015 version of the Customs Tariff to reflect the change.
