An ongoing labor dispute at the Port of Montreal between the Montreal Port Authority and the Maritime Employers Association has been halted for at least seven months after the two parties reached a truce on August 21.
Operations at the Port of Montreal resumed at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 23 and are expected to continue uninterrupted for a seven-month period as part of the truce reached between the parties.
The 11-day strike (and several shorter term labor actions prior to that) had created a backlog of clearance at the port and forced many shippers to re-route vessels to other ports to ensure the offloading of cargo in a timely manner.
Shippers are being encouraged to contact Port of Montreal terminal operators directly for more details on terminal activities and hours of operation.
