Consultation on the Proposed Regulatory Changes for Livestock Feeds

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has launched a consultation period from September 30, 2020 to November 15, 2020, to seek feedback and to inform upcoming changes to the Feeds Regulations.

The CFIA wants to engage with all animal feed stakeholders, including:

  • livestock feed manufacturers
  • feed ingredient manufacturers
  • feed retailers
  • livestock owners and producers
  • producer association groups
  • veterinary associations
  • other government agencies

All comments are welcome from industry, governments, the public, or other organizations or individuals with an interest in livestock feeds in Canada.

This consultation seeks feedback on the document Feed Regulatory Modernization – Pre Canada Gazette, Part I Publication Consultation, which provides an overview of the proposed changes to the Feeds Regulations and the potential economic impacts of these changes. This consultation document is accompanied by Fact Sheets: Feed Regulations 2021 which provide greater clarification on some of the key proposed changes.
