The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) advises of Tariff amendment T2016-2 to the February 1, 2016 version of the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff.
Customs Notice 16-14 published June 17, 2016 provides details of the HS tariff classifications changes and amendment.
The new HS tariff classifications covers specific tariff for “Goods used in manufacturing inputs” meaning goods that are used in the manufacturing or production of a product, now may qualify for duty free status. Also, as a result of this amendment, importers may be eligible for a refund of the duties paid on importations made since June 13, 2016. Refund claims are to be made in accordance with the provisions of section 74 of the Customs Act, using a Form B2, Canada Customs – Adjustment Request.

The following changes were also announced for the Korea Tariff (KRT) Staging Duty rate reduction in the Order for new tariff items.
HS 7612.90.99: staging category under KRT duty rate reduction.
Effective June 13, 2016 KRT: 3.5%
Effective Jan 1, 2017 KRT: 2.5%.
Effective Jan 1, 2018 KRT: Duty Free
HS 8201.90.99: staging category under KRT duty rate reduction.
Effective June 13, 2016 KRT: 2%.
Effective Jan 1, 2017 KRT: Duty Free
