In 2021, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) will deepen and sharpen the control of taxpayers since the Tax Miscellany creates new powers for home visits by the treasury that could even violate people’s constitutional rights, warned the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP).
“Definitely if this reform were to pass, it would be a greater control. To audit is to exercise powers of verification, the result is a greater depth, or it is to audit with deeper acts or with greater scope”, Diamantina Perales, president of the IMCP, anticipated in a virtual press conference.
Data from the SAT indicate that in the first semester of 2020, 36 thousand 859 inspection acts were carried out, an increase of 25 percent compared to the acts carried out in the same period last year, when 29 thousand 481 acts were applied.
Between January and August of this year the authorities obtained 286 thousand 24 million pesos for acts of inspection, of which two thirds, 176 thousand 604 million pesos, corresponded to cash income.
