On Friday, January 25, 2019, President Trump announced that the U.S. Federal Government, which has been on a partial government shutdown since December 22, 2018, would reopen for 21 days. This reopened period will allow Congress to negotiate a solution. If not resolved within that time, the President may either renew the partial government shutdown or possibly declare a national emergency to secure funding for border security.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other agency employees have returned to work, however, depending on the function, there may be work backlogs to get through. The Trade is encouraged to have patience.
