On May 25, 2018, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) issued a finding that determined that the dumping and subsidizing of certain Copper Pipe Fittings originating in, or exported from Vietnam have caused injury to the domestic industry.
This finding follows the CBSA Notice of Final Determinations of Dumping and Subsidizing of the copper pipe fittings on April 25, 2018.
The subject goods are defined as pressure pipe fittings and drainage, waste and vent pipe fittings, made of cast copper alloy, wrought (or “wrot”) copper alloy or wrought copper for use in heating, plumbing, air conditioning and refrigeration applications, originating in or exported from Vietnam, restricted to the products enumerated in the Appendix found in the CITT Notice of Findings as well as a listing provided in the Measures in Force.
The copper pipe fittings are usually classified under HS numbers: 7412.10.00.11, 7412.10.00.19, 7412.10.00.90, 7412.20.00.11, 7412.20.00.12, 7412.20.00.19 and 7412.20.00.90. The HS classification codes are provided for convenience of reference only.
There have been no exporters provided with normal values. An anti-dumping duty rate of 159% and countervailing duties of 34,636.50 VDN /lb will now apply to all imports of subject goods released on or after May 25th 2018.
