The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) posted their requirements for importing commercial shipments of dogs into the United States.
To be imported, dogs must be in good health, at least 6 month in age, and vaccinated for rabies and distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza virus (DHLPP).
Specific paperwork must accompany the dog, including an APHIS issued import permit; and health certificates and rabies vaccination certificates (issued in English), by a veterinarian who holds a valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the country of export.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) also requires the dogs are healthy, are immunized against rabies, and have a valid rabies vaccination certificate.
