The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has published memo D-14-03, a new directive that provides the phytosanitary import requirements for all fresh and dried branches, roots, cones, foliage, flowers, lichens and mosses intended for all uses (including ornamental/decorative) other than propagation and human consumption. The phytosanitary import requirements set out in the policy directive is effective September 15, 2015.
The directive sets the phytosanitary import requirements for material intended for uses other than propagation or consumption, such as ornamental/decorative (e.g. bouquets, wreaths). Requirements for material intended for propagation or human consumption are not included in this directive.
A large volume of fresh and dried branches, roots, cones, foliage, flowers, lichens and mosses are imported to Canada from a variety of origins.
