Anti-dumping and countervailing duties are now payable on certain concrete reinforcing bar released from customs on or after Jan. 9th, 2015. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) found that there is a threat of injury in respect of certain concrete reinforcing bar originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Turkey.
On Dec. 10th, 2014, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) made final determinations of dumping and subsidizing pertaining to this case. The goods are defined as hot-rolled deformed steel concrete reinforcing bar in straight lengths or coils, known as rebar, in various diameters up to and including 56.4 millimeters, in various finishes, excluding plain round bar and fabricated rebar products.
The goods in question are usually classified under the following Harmonized System (HS) classification numbers:
7213.10.00.00, 7214.20.00.00
