On December 31, 2014, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an investigation to determine if there will be any continuation or resumption of dumping of whole potatoes originating in or exported from the United States of America.
The subject goods are described as: Whole potatoes originating in or exported from the U.S. for use or consumption in British Columbia, but excluding:
- seed potatoes;
- imports during the period from May 1 to July 31 (inclusive) of each calendar year;
- red potatoes;
- yellow potatoes;
- exotic potato varieties; and
- white and russet potatoes imported in 50-pound cartons in the following count sizes: 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80.
These goods are generally classified under H.S. classifications 0701.90.00.10 & 0701.90.00.20.
CBSA has forwarded questionnaires to domestic producers, importers and exporters (foreign producers). Any firm that did not receive the questionnaire from CBSA and that would like to respond to the questionnaire are to contact the officers identified below. Responses to the questionnaire are due to CBSA’s office in Ottawa by Feb. 5, 2015.
