The United States is re-imposing tariffs on Canadian Aluminum shipped to United States. The 10% tariff is scheduled to be implemented on August 16, 2020.

The Trump administration originally imposed tariffs on a range of Canadian aluminum and steel in the summer of 2018, sparking a tense trade war. The United States agreed to lift the tariffs in May 2019 in order to pave the way for congressional agreement to a new trade deal with Mexico and Canada.
In a statement, Lighthizer’s office said the United States is reinstating the 10% tariffs on non-alloyed unwrought aluminum because Canada was sending more aluminum to the U.S. than had been agreed.

Canada’s response
On August 6, 2020, the Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, issued the following statement on the decision by the United States to impose tariffs on certain aluminum products from Canada:
“The August 6th announcement by the United States to impose tariffs on certain Canadian aluminum products, citing national security concerns, is unwarranted and unacceptable… In response to the American tariffs, Canada intends to swiftly impose dollar-for-dollar countermeasures.”
