The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) will be hosting face to face sessions across Canada in the coming weeks to seek public input on Phase 2 of the Food Labelling Modernization Initiative in accordance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Act. A couple of examples of questions being asked are: Should “best before dates” or “lists of ingredients” be changed on food labels sold in Canada?
CFIA wants to hear from the entire food sector (including producers, manufacturers, retailers) as well as consumers. The feedback provided will be used to develop recommendations that will lead to a more modern food labelling system.
The dates and times available are:
- Halifax, February 24, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Registration deadline: February 19)
- Ottawa, February 26, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Registration deadline: February 19)
- Toronto, March 3, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Registration deadline: February 24)
- Montréal, March 5, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Registration deadline: February 26)
- Vancouver, March 10, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Registration deadline: March 3)
