Government of Canada to remove sales tax on certain feminine hygiene products

The Department of Finance has announced a proposal to remove the sales tax on certain feminine hygiene products effective July 1, 2015.

The proposal would amend the Excise Tax Act to zero-rate a supply of a product that is marketed exclusively for feminine hygiene purposes and is a sanitary napkin, tampon, sanitary belt, menstrual cup or other similar product.

The notice of ways and means motion can be found on the Department of Finance Canada website.
