Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on December 4, 2020, that it has launched an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain concrete reinforcing bar, originating or exported from Oman and Russia.
Subsequently, on December 7, 2020, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) gave notice that it has initiated an injury inquiry to determine if the alleged dumping of concrete reinforcing bar has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury to Canadian manufacturers.
A detailed product description of the subject goods is provided in Appendix 1 of the CBSA notice.
The subject goods are usually classified under HS codes 7213.10.00.00, 7214.20.00.00 and in some instances may be classified under HS 7215.90.00.90 & 7227.90.00.90. HS codes are listed for convenience of reference only. Refer to the product definition for the authoritative details regarding the subject goods.
Parties wishing to participate in the preliminary injury inquiry must file a notice of participation with the CITT on or before December 17, 2020.
