On March 8, 2019, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an expiry review of its finding of injury made on March 17, 2014, concerning the dumping and subsidizing of Aluminum Extrusions originating in or exported from China.
On March 11, 2019, as a result of the CITT’s expiry review, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the above finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods.
The CBSA will make a determination no later than August 6, 2019, and will issue a Statement of Reasons by August 21, 2019.
The subject goods are described as “aluminum extrusions produced via an extrusion process of alloys having metallic elements falling within the alloy designations published by The Aluminum Association commencing with 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 or 7 (or proprietary or other certifying body equivalents), with the finish being as extruded (mill), mechanical, anodized or painted or otherwise coated, whether or not worked, having a wall thickness greater than 0.5 mm, with a maximum weight per metre of 22 kg and a profile or cross-section which fits within a circle having a diameter of 254 mm”. Exclusions are found in Appendix 1 of the CITT’s Notice of Expiry Review of Order.
