Une utilisation efficiente de la capacit\u00e9 de nos jours est aussi rare qu\u2019un port de mer au Nouveau-Mexique. L\u2019offre d\u00e9passe la demande par un nombre si consid\u00e9rable que des centaines de navires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019arr\u00eat tout au long du premier trimestre de 2016. Entre-temps, les navires en service sont utilis\u00e9s par les entreprises de transport qui cherchent \u00e0 consolider leurs activit\u00e9s, ce qui ajoute \u00e0 la pression sur les ports pour attirer les affaires d\u2019un moins grand nombre d\u2019entreprises. Enfin, les terminaux partout dans le monde doivent s\u2019ajuster \u00e0 la pr\u00e9valence des navires Panamax et des autres m\u00e9ganavires. Si ces navires ont fait des escales en Europe et en Asie, ils demeurent relativement nouveaux en Am\u00e9rique du Nord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ajustements requis pour les navires imposants <\/strong><br \/>\nLa taille des navires utilis\u00e9s par les entreprises de transport aujourd\u2019hui impose des ajustements difficiles pour bien des ports. Le Benjamin Franklin a toutefois \u00e9t\u00e9 le premier navire de sa cat\u00e9gorie \u00e0 faire escale dans un port de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord. Sur les deux c\u00f4tes, des ajustements doivent \u00eatre apport\u00e9s pour accommoder les visites r\u00e9guli\u00e8res des m\u00e9ganavires. Toutefois, la taille de ces visiteurs n\u2019est pas le seul enjeu auquel les ports doivent faire face cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Les exp\u00e9diteurs sont confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes d\u2019efficience en raison de la surcapacit\u00e9 qui les accable, mais gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la normalisation et aux nouvelles technologies, les ports peuvent devenir plus efficaces, indique le JOC. Cela n\u00e9cessitera d\u2019autres investissements dans les infrastructures portuaires. Il faudra faire davantage d\u2019investissements dans les infrastructures portuaires.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les am\u00e9liorations \u00e0 l\u2019efficience pourraient s\u00e9duire les entreprises de transport<\/strong><br \/>\nSi les ports parviennent \u00e0 rehausser l\u2019efficience et, ce faisant, \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les co\u00fbts pour les exp\u00e9diteurs, ils pourront alors gagner sur le plan des activit\u00e9s. Les entreprises de transport exploitent selon des \u00ab\u00a0marges b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires minimes\u00a0\u00bb, signale le JOC. Pour que leurs activit\u00e9s demeurent abordables, elles doivent tirer profit de co\u00fbts plus bas et d\u2019une plus grande efficience des op\u00e9rations portuaires. Les ports qui seront en mesure d\u2019offrir ces avantages aux entreprises de transport b\u00e9n\u00e9ficieront d\u2019activit\u00e9s accrues.<\/p>\n<p>Les investissements en efficience sont l\u2019un des facteurs qui ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des ports de Los Angeles et de Long Beach, point de d\u00e9part de la crise de la congestion de 2014-2015.
