SA, \u00e0 Bloomberg. La seule fa\u00e7on dont nous puissions y parvenir est en augmentant l\u2019efficience, qui repose sur l\u2019automatisation et la technologie.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>La soci\u00e9t\u00e9, dont M.\u00a0Parvin assure la vice-pr\u00e9sidence, loue des espaces de mouillage au port de Long Beach qui, tout comme les installations de Los Angeles, s\u2019emploie \u00e0 demeurer parmi les meilleures installations aux \u00c9tats-Unis pour la manutention de marchandises, au moment o\u00f9 le canal de Panama, nouvellement r\u00e9nov\u00e9, devrait venir perturber les itin\u00e9raires d\u00e9j\u00e0 trac\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Le mod\u00e8le actuel, auquel M.\u00a0Parvin a fait allusion r\u00e9cemment, a essuy\u00e9 divers revers, \u00e0 la suite d\u2019un long diff\u00e9rend contractuel survenu entre la Pacific Managers Association (PMA) et l\u2019International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU). Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 maintenant, deux installations, dont Middle Harbor, ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019automatiser leur exploitation, ce qui signifie qu\u2019elles ont opt\u00e9 pour l\u2019\u00e9lectronique. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de planification portuaire a estim\u00e9 le co\u00fbt de remplacement du mat\u00e9riel et d\u2019autres infrastructures aux ports de Los Angeles, de Long Beach et d\u2019Oakland \u00e0 7 milliards de dollars, au cours des 30 prochaines ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Ces co\u00fbts seraient beaucoup plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s si ces trois ports d\u00e9cidaient de remplacer le mat\u00e9riel retir\u00e9 du service par des v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 \u00e9mission z\u00e9ro ou presque nulle. Moffatt &amp; Nichol a d\u00e9couvert qu\u2019en trente ans, ces trois ports devraient d\u00e9bourser 23 milliards de dollars pour faire l\u2019acquisition de ce genre de mat\u00e9riel. Par ailleurs, le mat\u00e9riel de gerbage haute densit\u00e9 co\u00fbterait environ 35 milliards de dollars au cours de la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n<p>Deux terminaux, \u00e0 Los Angeles et \u00e0 Long Beach, ont opt\u00e9 pour l\u2019automatisation, mais aucun ne l\u2019a encore fait \u00e0 Oakland. Ces derni\u00e8res installations manutentionnent beaucoup moins de fret que les deux autres, ce qui signifie que dans les conditions actuelles, l\u2019automatisation ne serait peut-\u00eatre pas rentable.
