The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) issued Customs Notice CN19-13 advising of an Amendment to the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff.
The tariff amendment includes rate of duty reductions included in the Canada-EFTA Free Trade Agreement are effective July 1, 2019 and contain changes to the Iceland tariff (IT–TT22), Norway (NT–TT23) & Switzerland & Liechtenstein(SLT–TT24) tariff treatments specifically in Chapter 89 of the Customs Tariff.
The free trade agreement (FTA) between Canada and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland is a goods-only agreement with an emphasis on tariff elimination.
Also, rate of duty reductions included in the Information Technology Agreement Expansion, 2016 are effective July 1, 2019 and contain a change to the MFN tariff treatment for the following tariff item: 8523.21.10.00 MFN rate change to Duty Free.
The changes listed in this Customs Notice are included in T2019-2 Customs Tariff 2019.
All changes will be active in the Customs Commercial System (CCS) beginning July 1, 2019.
