Digital Service Tax on France Postponed

The Section 301 investigation on France’s Digital Service Tax (DST) that was due to enact additional duties as of January 6, 2021, for certain French origin beauty and make up preparations, soaps and handbags, was postponed by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), to align it with other DST investigations.

The USTR announced they are investigating DST for India, Italy, Turkey, all initiated in June 2020, along with other investigations for Austria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, the European Union (EU), Indonesia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. 

Progress in the investigations will be announced in the future.
