More than 30 days after the blockade of the railroad tracks, in the municipality of Meoqui, Chihuahua, by residents of Consuelo, a situation that has become “unsustainable” and with economic losses that may exceed 28 billion pesos, a figure that was registered in 2019 for a 28-day blockade in Michoacán, it will be the businessmen themselves who will meet with the protesters to reach a solution.
Francisco Santini Ramos, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) of Chihuahua, announced that this day they will meet with the leaders of the movement to know their demands and will seek to mediate for the liberation of said infrastructure.
He mentioned that currently companies are assuming cost overruns in order to streamline their products, replacing the roads with another type of transport, however, there will come a time when it cannot be carried out. He commented that there are about 15,000 wagons stopped by this closure and to move the merchandise that is transported by this route, 35,000 trailers would be required, a fleet that is not available, in addition to the fact that there is a deficit of operators.
