November 11, 2019 – The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) are now in force with licensing and traceability requirements in effect for many businesses in the fresh fruits or vegetables (FFV) sector.
On January 15, 2020, the preventive control requirements of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) will come into force for most businesses in the fresh fruits or vegetables (FFV) sector. In addition, as of that date, growers and harvesters will join with many other FFV businesses and become subject to traceability requirements. Lot code labelling of consumer prepackaged FFV will also come into force for all businesses in the sector.
To help prepare FFV businesses, the CFIA is holding a series of expert-led question-and-answer sessions. Please register early for the Q&A session of your choice, as space is limited.
Note: During the Q&A, CFIA experts will not be delivering the presentation. It is important that you watch the SFCR recorded video presentation for the FFV sector prior to the Q&A session and have your questions ready ahead of time. The video presentation provides a deeper understanding of the licensing, preventive controls and traceability requirements of the SFCR as they relate to the FFV sector.
