Amendment 14 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations will come into effect April 30, 2019. Amendment 14 includes new requirements for commercial pre-rinse spray valves (PRSV). Below you will find a summary of the new requirements for PRSV.
Note: These requirements apply to PRSV manufactured on or after June 27, 2016 and before January 28 (Tier I), and to PRSV manufactured on or after January 28, 2019 (Tier II).
These requirements apply to products that fall within the following regulatory definition:
A handheld device for spraying water on food service items, that has a release-to-close valve and is designed and marketed to be used in conjunction with commercial dishwashing or commercial ware washing equipment.
If your product does not fall within the scope of this definition, it is not considered a regulated product and does not need to meet the requirements of the Regulations.
There are four regulatory requirements that apply to commercial pre-rinse spray valves. The guide to Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations provides additional information for each requirement. It also provides a summary page for each regulated product.
When the requirements for PRSV come into force, there will be a page for PRSV with the information below.
Energy Efficiency Verification Mark
Regulated energy-using products must bear an energy efficiency verification mark from a certification body accredited for energy efficiency verification/certification by the Standards Council of Canada. This mark indicates that the energy performance of the product has been verified and the mark is authorized for use by the certification body.
Energy Efficiency Report
The Regulations require one energy efficiency report to be filed per model prior to first import. Most products have a Searchable Product List which lists models reported to NRCan that are compliant with the Regulations.
Energy Efficiency Report Templates may be downloaded from our website. When the requirements for commercial pre-rinse spray valves come into force, the template will be available for download. For more information regarding energy efficiency reports, please visit FAQ – energy efficiency reports.
