Since the new Agriculture Quarantine Inspection (AQI) treatment monitoring user fee went into effect in December 2015, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has received many questions about what the fee covers and how to pay it. Answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) are available on the APHIS Web site.
APHIS charges user fees to recover the costs of providing AQI services at U.S. ports of entry. Effective December 28, 2015, APHIS adjusted the fees it charges to better align them with the costs of delivering AQI services.
